No-one can resist the smell and taste of freshly popped corn, so grab some kernels, heat up the pan and lets get popping! Celebrate National Popcorn day on 19th January 2016 with a fabulous, retro-feel popcorn maker from Kukoo.

Popcorn can make a super-healthy snack for those of you who are sticking to your new year diets - well done you - for those of you, like us who have given in already it can be pure sweet-sugary-naughtiness to enjoy!


Here are our top six flavours for all you sweet-toothed and savoury snackers out there to enjoy.

Rosemary and parmesan popcorn

ROSEMARY & PARMESAN

4 cups of freshly popped corn
2 tbsp olive oil
30g grated parmesan
1 tbsp fresh rosemary
2 tsp kosher salt

Method: Finely grate parmesan and mix with finely chopped rosemary. Sprinkle the parmesan and rosemary mix over freshly popped popcorn and season with kosher salt to taste.
This one is great for grown ups for pre-dinner party nibbles!

Smoked paprika popcorn

SMOKED PAPRIKA

4 cups of freshly popped corn
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp kosher salt

Method: Mix the smoked paprika, onion powder and kosher salt in a bowl then sprinkle over freshly popped popcorn. Fancy spicing it up? Add a sprinkle of chilli powder to turn up the heat!

Cheese and chive popcorn

CHEESE & CHIVE

4 cups of freshly popped corn
2 tbsp olive oil
30g grated parmesan
A handful of fresh chopped chives
A pinch of salt & pepper

Method: Finely grate parmesan and mix with chopped chives in a bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste and sprinkle over freshly popped popcorn, make sure you toss it up for an even coating!

COCONUT & VANILLA

4 cups of freshly popped corn
2 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp desiccated coconut
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1/2 tsp of ground sea salt

Method: Add the vanilla extract to the coconut oil when popping your corn to add flavour. Sprinkle with desiccated coconut and a touch of salt to keep the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Prefer savoury? Swap the vanilla for a teaspoon of curry powder for a sweet and spicy taste explosion!

SWEET CINNAMON

4 cups of freshly popped corn
2 tbsp coconut oil
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp Stevia or Truvia
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp all spice
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Method: Pop your corn in coconut oil and vanilla extract for natural sweetness. Mix your dry spices in a bowl add the sweetner (Stevia or Truvia) then sprinkle the sweetness on hot, popped corn. This one tastes just like apple pie! Yum!

PEANUT BUTTER & CHOCOLATE

4 cups of fresh air-popped corn
2 tbsp ground nut oil
3 Reece's peanut butter cups
1 tbsp smooth peanut butter
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method: Pop your corn using ground nut oil, in the meantime melt 3 Recee's Peanut Butter Cups and the peanut butter in a bowl with the vanilla extract. Stir until smooth. Set your corn aside and drizzle with the mix, make sure you give it a good shake to coat it in the chocolate-peanutty-goodness... Now scoff the lot!
