For too long we have been submitting ourselves to restrictive popcorn paradigms.Too long we’ve been limited to just sweet or salty. There’s a whole world of popcorn flavours out there – so we went out and found them.
Here are some of the best, most unique popcorn recipes that will make your friends even happier that they know you. (All these recipes are based on a large portion of popcorn from your maker, a big bowl’s worth).
Spicy Cheese Popcorn
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/4 cup cheddar cheese powder
- 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 4 cups popped popcorn
- Salt and pepper
Pop your corn in your super cool popcorn maker. Then grab a large bowl and combine the butter, cayenne pepper, cheddar cheese powder, mustard powder and swirl it all all around. Spoon in some big helpfuls of popcorn, then mix it all together until most of the popcorn is covered. Add salt and pepper as desired as you serve. Spicy!
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup sundried tomatoes in oil
- 1 clove garlic, smashed
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmigiano Reggiano
- 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Combine two enduringly popular treats with popcorn that tastes just like a big slice of cheesy pizza. In a blender, puree the butter, tomatoes and garlic into a smooth paste, then, heat a small pan and add the butter mixture. Heat the butter until melted down.
Remove the freshly popped corn from your popcorn maker, being careful to avoid any unpopped kernels, then mix the still warm butter paste and remaining herbs and cheese for a savoury treat that will blow you away.
Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons cinnamon
This super sweet recipe is also super simple to make. Pop your corn using your popcorn maker, then melt the butter in a small pan. Remove the popcorn and place into a bowl, then mix the butter and sugar until it’s all covered. Finish with liberal sprinkles of cinnamon.
- 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
Pop your popcorn in your big red popcorn maker and remove all the unpopped kernels.
In a small bowl, mix together the sriracha sauce, melted butter and salt. Then grab a big bowl and fill with popcorn and add half the mixture. Swirl around until most the popcorn is covered, then drizzle the rest of the mix on top. Seriously hot stuff.

- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
Now for something a little different! A fresh twist on classic rice crispy treats, this recipe is easy and delicious. Microwave butter, marshmallows, and brown sugar for 2 ½ minutes until it’s completely melted. Stir until gloopy and runny, then microwave for a further minute or until it’s basically liquid. Now remove your fresh popcorn from your maker and mix it all together. Eat once it’s cooled or form into clumps for a handy treat later on.
